Voting Instructions

Contest #2 has now begun. The information is below. Here is the information about the previous Contest 1.

It's time for the 2nd Me and Thee Story Contest!

For this contest the prizes will be--

For Writers:

1st Prize: $100 Gift Certificate and $100 Donation in winner's name to EGPAF
2nd Prize: $50 Gift Certificate
3rd Prize: $25 Gift Certificate

And there will be two "Lucky Writer" prizes selected at random that will receive $10 Gift Certificates.

For Voters:

There will be a "Lucky Voter" prize selected at random for a $25 gift certificate.

For Story Guessers:

There will be a "Fanfic Expert" award for the person who matches the most authors correctly with the stories. Details on the mechanics of this will be worked out closer to the story deadline. Our Fanfic Expert will also receive a $25 gift certificate.

For anyone who wasn't here for the first one here are the rules:

A writing challenge or theme will be posted to the list, along with a deadline for entries (see below). Stories should be sent in .doc, .rtf, or .txt format to CC, at allheart032001 at yahoo dot com. CC will send you a confirmation email, remove your name from the story and forward it to me; I will then reformat it for web presentation. When the submission period is over I will post a link to the list along with the date voting ends and any voting instructions. At the end of the voting period, I will tally the results and announce the big winners.

In case you're wondering, we're posting the stories without the authors' names in hopes that people will focus on the stories, rather than the writers, while they're voting. We're also counting on writers (and their betas, if they choose) to maintain that secrecy for the duration of the contest. Obviously, there's no way to police that, which is why the emphasis on the writer's honor. Not to worry, all writers' names will be disclosed at the end of the contest.

Other bits and pieces you need to know: Gen and Slash entries may be submitted only by current listmembers of the Me & Thee list as of the date of the announcement, which for this contest is 1 July 2005.

Stories should be new and unpublished in any forum previously--online or zine--and should be the original work of the writers who submit them.

Each writer is allowed only one entry.

Stories should have the following information (and only this information) at the top of the first page: Author Name and Story Title.

Entries should be a minimum of 10k of text (about 3.5 -- 4.0 pages of a standard document). Poetry submissions are the single exception and have no size limitations. Here's an example of a 10k text file: http://meandthee.shahrazad.net/display.ph p?storyid=630.

Once your story has been accepted, it can only be withdrawn, not corrected. Please check your stories carefully prior to submitting. After posting, stories can not be withdrawn.

Contest Two has some restrictions on the theme, so please make sure to read *everything* below before starting your story.

Contest two starts NOW and the theme is **Make Starsky Bleed**.

We are requiring "original" bleeding, so you can't write a missing scene or follow-up for episodes like Shootout or Sweet Revenge. Sweet Revenge recovery or future complications are not allowed either. The bleeding needs to be created entirely by the author without any nicking (haha!) of canon bleeding.

You can have as much or as little blood as you like, as long as it's important to the story. Starksy can poke his finger on a thorn and shed a drop of blood. Alternatively you can abuse him to your heart's content and stab, shoot or otherwise lacerate/puncture him in any bloody way you can imagine. Someone really evil could give the poor guy hemorrhoids if she could write that into a story that wouldn't disgust us all. We do ask that whatever you do to Starsky, you put him back together once you're done with him, i.e. no death stories as they can upset unwarned readers and this is a No Warning Contest.

Deadline for entry is 16 October 2005. It is much sooner than the first contest deadline due to some poor planning on our part. We realized the contest should be over by November, because people are often busy with the holidays from November on, and also so we can have Secret Santa stories again this year without conflicting with the contest.

Voting will also be different this time, as we found almost all the votes were received in the first and last weeks of the contest. Thie time, the voting period will be compressed into 2 weeks.
